Before You Meet

• Take your time getting to know someone in the app before meeting in person. There's no rush.
• Do a quick online search — Google their name, check their social media presence if they've shared it.
• Video chat before a first date if you're not sure. A quick call tells you a lot.
• Trust your gut. If something feels off, it probably is. You never owe anyone a date.
• Never send money to someone you haven't met in person, no matter how convincing the story.

On Your First Date

• Always meet in a public place — a coffee shop, restaurant, or park. Never at your home or theirs.
• Tell a friend or family member where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back.
• Arrange your own transportation. Don't rely on your date for a ride home on a first meeting.
• Keep your phone charged and accessible. Share your location with a trusted contact.
• Limit alcohol, especially on early dates. Stay aware and in control.
• Have a backup plan — a friend on standby, an exit excuse ready if you need it.

Protecting Your Personal Information

• Don't share your home address, workplace, or daily routine until you've built real trust.
• Use Intime's in-app messaging until you're comfortable sharing a personal phone number.
• Be careful about what's visible in your photos — street signs, landmarks, or location details can reveal where you live or work.
• Never share financial information, Social Security numbers, or passwords with anyone you meet online.

Recognizing Red Flags

• Excessive flattery early on, especially before you've met — sometimes called "love bombing."
• Requests for money, gift cards, or financial help — a classic scam pattern.
• Inconsistent stories or information that doesn't add up.
• Pressure to move off Intime quickly, or to share personal contact information right away.
• Reluctance to meet in person or video chat after extended messaging.
• Asking lots of personal questions while sharing very little about themselves.

After the Date

• Let your friend know you got home safely.
• If you didn't feel a connection, it's fine to say so kindly, or simply unmatch. You don't owe anyone a second date.
• If something happened that made you uncomfortable or unsafe, report it in the app, even if they've since unmatched you. Past matches stay in your Safety tab.
• If you were hurt or assaulted, you're not to blame. Call 911 if you're in danger, and RAINN (1-800-656-4673) can help you with what to do next, confidentially.

Scams to Know About

• Romance scams: someone builds a close connection quickly, then has an emergency, a travel problem or an investment opportunity that needs your money. Nobody genuine will ask you for money on a dating app.
• Crypto and investment tips: a match who wants to teach you to trade, or to use a particular app or website, is running a scam.
• Code requests: never share a verification code sent to your phone or email. It lets someone take over your account.
• Blackmail with photos (sextortion): if someone threatens to share intimate images unless you pay, don't pay and don't send more. Stop talking to them, keep screenshots, report them in the app, and report it to the FBI at ic3.gov. StopNCII.org can help stop images being shared online.
• Fake profiles: photos that look like a model's, a story that keeps changing, and a refusal to video chat. Look for the Verified badge.

If you've lost money, report it to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov and tell your bank straight away.

Tools in the App

• Verified badge: means a person on our team has checked that the photos show the account holder.
• Verified-only messages: only people who passed the face check can message you.
• Safety tools in every chat: report, block or get help without leaving the conversation.
• Report one thing: flag a single photo, answer or message, not just the whole profile.
• Hide your city and pause your profile whenever you like.
• Safety Center: a guide, tools and places to get help, in the app.

How to Report on Intime

If someone makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, use the Report button on their profile. A person reviews every report, and we aim to do it within 24 hours. You can also block anyone at any time — they won't be notified.
